1962 LIONEL ADVANCE DEALER CATALOG

| The rare 1962 Dealer Advance catalog is 64 pages, heavy glossy stock paper. It contains the complete O-27, O & Super O, and HO lines that Lionel produced. The advance dealer catalog was a stripped down version of the consumer cataloged that would soon follow. Dealers would use these for preorders and to show potential customers. They could also be used for advertising mockups. The artwork was all done in black and white, and many times sets and items would change by the time of the actual consumer catalog release. 1962 was no exception, the items stayed the same, but the artwork layout was extremely different. This dealer catalog would also list all the promotional items Lionel had to offer(posters, layouts, dealer display units, track merchandiser, window displays, and merchandise assorments). 1962 was a great year for trains, and it's very interesting to compare the two catalogs next to each other. New items included; 2365 C&O GP-7; 232 New Haven alco's; 211 texas Special alco's; 633 S.F. NW-2 switcher; 3349 turbo missle carrier; 6463 rocket fuel tank car; 6413 Mercury capsule car; 3619 reconnaissance copter car; 3413 Mercury capsule launcher; 6473 redeo car; 6501 jet motorboat car; a scarce 6500 red & white airplane flat car; 6464-725 N.H. boxcar(box is always misnumbered 6464-735). Two interesting and collectible motorized units included the 59 Minuteman and the 65 handcar. Also note the interesting and rare sets available in 62; 12512, ("The Enforcer") 45 olive U.S.M.C. missile launch set; 13058, 2383 S.F. AA("Vanguard") F-3 7-unit frt. set; 13068, 2360 GG-1 ("The Goliath") frt.set. And lots more, one of the better reading catalogs, with great artwork illustrations in black and white. This is one of the better advance catalogs released. |
